The Lymphatic system made up of lymph nodes and fluid, plays an important part in the body’s defence against infection by removing excess protein, dead or abnormal cells and bacteria helping to “clean” up our internal body.

Sometimes the system can become backed up or a build up of fluid can occur through illness, following surgery when lymph nodes are removed or as a result of injury or trauma to the body in the case of sprains or strains.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is a gentle non-invasive form of massage that can help as a detox therapy to stimulate and drain excess fluid from the body to improve overall functioning of the lymphatic (immune) system. It can help reduce swelling and build up of fluid in the body by moving it away from the area affected.

More recently I have used this to help treat Clients with:

  • Lymphoedema following surgery.
  • Sports injury sprains and for recovery after intense training or sporting event.
  • Hot weather ankle and leg swelling fondly known as “cankles”.
  • Fibromyalgia as a gentle massage to help with relaxation.
